Tourist Guide

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Cultural Heritage & Nature Interpreter to guide visitors through Karaikudi, a culturally iconic city in Tamil Nadu renowned for its Chettinad heritage, historic mansions, traditional crafts, and rich culinary legacy. Karaikudi offers a unique opportunity to showcase authentic Tamil traditions, architectural brilliance, local lifestyles, and regional ecosystems to travelers from across India and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead guided cultural tours covering Chettinad mansions, temples, heritage streets, local markets, craft centers, and nearby natural attractions.
• Share engaging insights about Chettinad history, Tamil traditions, local customs, architecture, cuisine, folklore, and regional lifestyle.
• Interpret local ecosystems, rural landscapes, seasonal changes, and biodiversity in an educational and visitor-friendly manner.
• Assist during festivals, heritage walks, food events, cultural programs, and community celebrations to ensure memorable visitor experiences.
• Coordinate tour schedules, visitor safety, transportation support, and group management for both domestic and international tourists.
• Promote responsible and sustainable tourism practices while encouraging awareness about heritage conservation and local environmental protection.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Chettinad history, Tamil culture, heritage architecture, and local traditions.
• Excellent storytelling, communication, and public speaking abilities.
• Fluency in Tamil and English required (knowledge of additional regional or foreign languages is an advantage).
• 2–5 years of experience in tourism, heritage guiding, cultural interpretation, or environmental education preferred.
• Certification in tourism, heritage management, or eco-tourism is an added advantage.
